Attention to Detail: Contractor Fixes Four-Inch Mistake on Pitcher's Mound
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Contractors working at the new Du Quoin High School seem to be driven to perfection. That includes fixing a four-inch mistake on the height of the new pitcher's mound on the baseball diamond behind VanMetre Field.
The infield to the new home of the Baseball Indians gets artificial turf as did the football field. The pitcher's mound gets its own concrete foundation and cover, as well.
But a measurement after the concrete was poured indicated the mound was four inches too high. The center of the mound was cut out and new concrete poured. It was a quick, inexpensive fix in the scheme of things, but shows that builders want everything correct.
