SWIMMING: Trevor Jones 3rd at All-Star meet

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[252 of Southern Illinois' finest swimmers gathered in Millstadt this past Saturday for the 2011 All-Star Summer Swim Championship featuring athletes from six different area swim conferences.

Du Quoin's Trevor Jones had the most impressive finish of Perry County swimmers, taking home third place overall in the boys 13-14 division. Jones placed second in the 100y backstroke and third in the 100y individual medley, 50y butterfly and 100y freestyle events, earning a medal in each race.

Swimming Indians Paxton Higgerson and Courtney Rudloff also earned medals at Millstadt. Higgerson was third in the boys 9-10 25y freestyle while Rudloff came home third in the girls 13-14 100y breaststroke. Higgerson also added a fifth place ribbon in the 25y breaststroke. Rudloff was part of the Southern Illinois Swim League's combined relay team that won the girls 15-18 200y freestyle race.

Other top five finishes for Du Quoin came from Chris Zuck (4th, boys 11-12 50y backstroke; 5th, 50y butterfly) and Alexandria Gossman (5th, girls 11-12 50y freestyle).

For Pinckneyville, Ian Henne and Savannah Cheek had the best showings among Dolphins swimmers at the All-Star meet.

Henne had the top finish with a fourth place in the boys 13-14 100y backstroke, also adding two sixths (50y butterfly, 100y freestyle). He was also on the Shawnee Swim Conference team that took first in the boys 13-14 200y freestyle relay.

Cheek had a pair of fifth place ribbons (girls 11-12 50y butterfly, 50y breaststroke) to go along with a sixth in the 50y backstroke. Gus Glazier (5th, boys 13-14 100y breaststroke) also had a top five for Pinckneyville.

Henne, Cheek and other Dolphins' results helped Pinckneyville's league, the Shawnee Swim Conference, claim first place in the event, out-pacing the SISL 390.5-307.5.
