The clinic will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. The Heartland Regional Medical Center is located at 3333 West De Young Street in Marion, Illinois. This facility is located just off the south side of Illinois Route 13. The clinician for the clinic will be Dr. Alan Froehling from Mt. Vernon. Children will be seen by appointment. Appointments may be made by calling the Illinois Elks Crippled Children's Program at 1-800-272-0074 between 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.
The Elks Clinics are primarily for children with bone and joint problems. Children who have feet that turn out or turn in, complain of leg or knee pain, have back problems or arm problems, are appropriate for review at this clinic. Children who have been examined at previous Elks Clinics and wish to continue using the services of the Elks are welcome to attend. The clinic provides services for children from age 0 to age 21 and children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian when attending the clinic. In the past, many grandparents have brought children to the clinic for a general orthopedic review.
The clinic welcomes family physicians in the area to refer patients to the clinic they feel might benefit from this service. School nurses are also urged to use this clinic as a resource for children they believe would benefit from the orthopedic review.
All diagnostic services rendered at this clinic are free of charge. Should the doctor prescribe treatment for a problem, and the family need financial assistance, the Elks will undertake to provide the assistance. In the past, the Elks have provided many sessions of physical or occupational therapy, purchased many pairs of shoes and braces, and provided large items such as wheelchairs and corrective surgery for many children. These clinics are entirely funded by the efforts of the Elks Lodges in the state of Illinois. Additional information about this clinic may be obtained by calling the Elks Program Office at 1-800-272-0074 during normal working hours. This is a toll free phone call.
