Pinckneyville Finances Stable

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Finance Commissioner Leonard Heisner reported that the city&#39;s financial position remains stable with the gas bill paid and regular deposits made to the bond account.

The TIF fund received $186,246 and the general fund received $363,104 from the first disbursement of real estate taxes. The second installment of real estate

taxes is due Aug. 19.

The state paid $196,855 for the March and April utility bills for the Pinckneyville Correctional Center, but still owes $248,383 for May and June.

The council approved payment of $50,370 to Kellerman Brothers Construction and $2,500 to Harold Palmer for work done on the Illinois Rural Heritage Museum. Both payments will be made from DCEO grant funds.

In other business, the council:

approved payment of $1,000 to K & C Appraisal for appraising the City Hall Annex and payment of $4,950 for work done on re-funding bonds. The city will save between $60,000 and $90,000 over the remaining life of the bonds.

hired Travis Gilliam as a full-time operator and relief. utility and maintenance worker at the Water and Sewer Treatment Plant. He will be paid $13.01 per hour for a six-month probationary period. After his probation ends, he will earn $17.31 per hour. Gilliam fills the spot vacated by Gary Ahner who moved to the position of operator in charge. Gilliam has been employed part-time at the treatment plant.

heard from Mayor Kellerman that the Fallen Heroes fund-raiser by Matrix will be held Tuesday, July 26 in the area near City Hall and the Fire Department. Money raised will be used to build a first responders memorial on the square in Pinckneyville. The events include:

Cut-a-thon from 1 to 3 p.m.

Parade 4 p.m.

Silent Auction from 5 to 8 p.m.

Dance from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with music by 4Play

Memorial and Balloon Launch at 7 p.m.

approved the donation of $1,500 to the annual Family Night in the Park which will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 29 at Pinckneyville City Park.

set the trick-or-treat date as Monday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. for children age 13 and under going only to houses with porch lights on.

approved collection by the Perry County Shriner&#39;s Club at locations around the square and four-way stop from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8.
