Cutler & Pinckneyville Firemen Rescue Driver From High Water
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Heat and high water were common themes for emergency personnel Monday and Tuesday. Perry County Deputies, along with Cutler & Pinckneyville Rural Fire Protection personnel, responded to a '911' call after a Sparta man's car skated into floodwaters along Rt. 154 at the Cutler turnoff Tuesday night at 8:50 p.m.
The man was found knee deep in water in his car and was taken to safety. The car was registered to Alfred Degener of Sparta. It is not known if the owner was also the victim.
He was taken to Pinckneyville Community Hospital for observation and was released.
The vehicle sustained major interior water damage.
Tuesday's storm brought over an inch and a half of rain to the area in less than an hour.
