Perry County Health & Wellness Coalition Takes First Steps

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Perry County Health and Wellness Coalition has taken the first steps in addressing their five priority issues- cardiovascular disease, obesity, nutrition, mental health and child health. A committee formed Thursday will work on an information packet and a resource guide for Perry County. Next on the agenda is a logo for the group.

The Coalition is made up of individuals from local and regional agencies with an interest in promoting health in Perry County such as the Perry County Health Department, Perry County Counseling Center, Five Star Industries, American Cancer Society, Perry-Jackson Child Advocacy Center, Doc Z's Fitness/Zimmerman Chiropractic, Pinckneyville Police Department, American Red Cross, Perry-Jackson Regional Office of Education and Marshall Browning Hospital.

Though it is late in the year, any summer camps that are interested in obtaining a speaker to address issues such as nutrition, fitness or sun safety may contact Perry County Health Department Administrator Jodi Schoen at 357-5371. She will put camp organizers in touch with the appropriate people.

In the meantime, Coalition members will take advantage of the resources individual members can provide for programs they already have in the works.
