SWIMMING: Dolphins edge Carlyle in home opener
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville's Zach Hall, Coleman Choate and Gavin Sronce each scored two individual event wins in addition to participating on winning relay teams as the Dolphins slipped past Carlyle 337-310 in last Thursday night's swim meet at Pinckneyville.
Hall took the win in the 15-18 year-old boys 100m individual medley and 100m backstroke, Choate was victorious in the 100m Freestyle and 50m butterfly, and Sronce won the 9-10 year-old boys 25m backstroke and 100m individual medley. Choate narrowly missed a third win in the 100m backstroke, but Hall edged him by 0.04 seconds.
Other Dolphin swimmers earning victories included Gailen Hall (13-14 boys, 100m backstroke), Deanne Brand (15-18 girls, 100m backstroke), Cole Kelly (9-10 boys, 25m butterfly), Ashley Maxey (13-14 girls, 50m butterfly), Andrew Benbrook (15-18 boys, 100m breaststroke), Karsen Konkel (6-under boys, 25m freestyle), Barrett Denny (8-under boys, 25m freestyle), C.J. Brueggemann (9-10 boys, 25m freestyle), Savannah Cheek (11-12 girls, 50m freestyle), Ian Henne (13-14 boys, 100m freestyle) and Olivia Mathis (15-18 girls, 100m freestyle).
On June 15, the Dolphins travelled to Millstadt for a meet, falling 416-340 as a team.
Several Dolphins won their events, including Henne (13-14 boys, 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly), Cheek (11-12 girls, 50m breaststroke), Benbrook (15-18 boys, 100m breaststroke), G. Hall (13-14 boys, 100m individual medley), Mathis (15-18 girls, 100m individual medley and 100m breaststroke) and Sarah Loos (15-18 girls, 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle).
Relay teams were victorious for Pinckneyville in the boys' 11-12 200m medley, 13-14 200m medley, and 13-14 200m freestyle. Girls relay teams won the 9-10 100m medley, 15-18 200m medley, and 15-18 200m freestyle events.
