BASEBALL: Junior Legion sweeps Sparta

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville-Du Quoin American Legion Posts 2504 & 704 took two road games from Sparta in Junior Legion baseball action on Wednesday night, winning 6-4 in both contests.

C.J. Opp picked up the win in game one, throwing four-plus innings and allowing just one earned run on four hits while striking out six. Joey Burris got the save, allowing a single hit in his three innings, fanning four.

Dylan Hardin (3-4, 2R), Evan Chapman (2-4, R, RBI), Hunter Queen (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI) and Luke Chapman (2-4) all had multiple hits for P-DQ in the first game.

The nightcap saw Luke Chapman get the start and go three innings with 2 hits and 2 runs allowed to go along with 4 K&#39;s. Hardin came in for the bottom of the fourth and went the rest of the way, surrendering 2 unearned runs on 2 hits with 7 strikeouts to get the win for Posts 2504 & 704 after eight innings.

Hardin (1-5, 2B, 2 RBI), Burris (2-4, 2 R) and L. Chapman (2-4, 3 RBI) led the way on offense for the P-DQ Junior #1 team.

Pinckneyville-Du Quoin&#39;s #1 and #2 Junior squads will face off in Pinckneyville this Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader. The Senior team hosts Murphysboro on Thursday (6:00 p.m. DH).
