Rex Duncan Moves to Finance Commissioner

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Du Quoin City Council met briefly Monday as commissioners began their new assignments. Newly elected commissioner Yvonne Sauer steps in as water commissioner as onetime city clerk and water commissioner Rex Duncan moves into the role of finance commissioner, filling the vacancy of Cha Hill. Newly elected commissioner Josh Downs steps in as police and fire commissioner and Kathy West continues her role as street commissioner.

The council gave final approval to Ordinance 2011-O05-01 prohibiting the sale, possession or delivery of synthetic cannabis or synthetic cocaine or substances containing cocaine sold as bath salts.

The council approved Resolution 2011-R05-03: A resolution in support of the Du Quoin State Fair Twilight Parade and the closure of a portion of Route 51.

The council accepted with regret, the resignation of Rich Haines from the Fire Pension Board and the Police Pension Board and approved the nomination of Josh Gross to the Du Quoin Park Board of Commissioners
