Brown gives totals for April 2011 election
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pat Laramore, Randolph County Clerk, gave the totals for the April 2011 election at the Board of Commissioners meeting on Friday, May 13. Totals for this election were $433,574.46, with only 5,023 voters participating in the election that came to a cost of $8.67 per vote cast. In April 2009 1,200 more people voted than in this year's election. She also said that April elections are always more expensive than the others due to all the different ballot styles that have to be prepared for the election.
The election had 180 judges that cover the 37 precincts which were paid $25,020.55 with $7,200 of that being reimbursed by the state. Other expenses included $20,825 for supplies, $2,66.13 for supplies, $1,080 for Polling Places and Booths, $186.51 for mileage and $996 in overtime costs for the county.
Mike Riebling with the Highway Department told the Board that there was only one road left in the county that was closed on Friday due to water of the road. All other roads had been reopened.
Ken Slavens, Administrator of the Care Center said that they are still celebrating Nursing Home Month with activities. Ameren UE had to move a pole before their drive way can be paved. The Center has also been working on the grounds for Spring. They currently have 58 residents.
Tom Smith, Randolph County Health Department informed the Board that next Saturday, May 21 a electronics recycling event will be held at the Department. A local girl scout Sidney Hequemburger had arranged for it. The Health Department will also be having a drill exercise during this week.
Julie Mumbower of the University Extension informed the board that they were gearing up for the Randolph County Fair and preparing Youth Cooking Schools for the summer months. She thanked the County for their support and would like to bring in the new educators to meet the board, they should all be on board by July 1st.
