SOFTBALL: Lady Panthers whip Woodlawn

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A day after snapping their seven-game losing streak with a home win over Carbondale, Pinckneyville&#39;s slumping offense appears ready to bust out in time for the postseason following a 15-1 win at Woodlawn on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Panthers had not scored more than three runs since April 14, a streak of eight games.

Taylor Cicardi did the most damage, belting a pair of homers and driving in three runs as part of her 3-for-5 day at the plate. Maddy Keith (3-4) also had three hits and an RBI.

Other leading hitters for PCHS on Friday included Emily Chapman (2-4, RBI), Taylor Kuhnert (2-5, RBI), Dani Jenkel (2-5, RBI) and Kala Emling (1-1, HR, 2 RBI). Making her first plate appearance of 2011, Kortney Crawford had a sacrifice fly for an RBI as a pinch hitter.

Sara Malanowski (10-5) picked up victory number ten in the pitching circle, going seven innings, allowing two hits, a walk and an earned run while striking out seven Lady Cardinals.

Pinckneyville (17-9) hosts the current No. 2 team in the Class 1A Illinois Coaches Association poll, Goreville, on Monday at 4:00 p.m.
