SOFTBALL: Lady Falcons tripped up by Trico

"It didn't seem like we had more hits than them, they just strung theirs together and had two extra base hits," said EHS head softball coach Donette Wheatley.
"We also struck out 11 times, that hurt. We have got to hit the ball better."
Trico got a pair of runs in the second inning when Ortiz walked and was driven in by Bunselmeyer's triple, then Chloe Thies drove Bunselmeyer in with a single.
Ortiz picked up an RBI in the sixth with her triple, then scored when Bunselmeyer reached on an error.
The Lady Falcons stranded a total of four base runners in scoring position, but were able to scrap out a run in the sixth on Corrine Wilson's RBI single to score Kelsi Teague, who had walked earlier in the inning.
Teague (3-2) pitched well in the losing effort, going all seven innings and allowing just five hits and three earned runs while walking one and striking out three. Kayln Lodge was the winning pitcher for Trico.
At the dish, Sami Hicks was a perfect 3-for-3, but was left on base each time. Wilson (2-for-3, RBI) and Erika Will (1-3) had the other Elverado hits.
The Lady Falcons are at home again on Friday when they take on Crab Orchard at Elkville City Park (4:30 p.m.).
