They explained that candy wrappers, soda cups, and other trash are seen on our ball fields, parks and yards. They told the children how important it was not to liter to make their town look clean. Sauer explained to the children how when she was younger a popular character Woodsy the Owl said - "Give a hoot - don't pollute," and the commission is holding a Poster Contest for the students to help them find a logo and slogan like Woodsy. They are offering $75 for the winner and a t-shirt with their logo and slogan on it. The students are asked to create a poster 11 x17 or 8 x 11 with their slogan and logo including a character and it must be created by the student. The deadline for entries will be April 27th and must be turned into their home room teachers. The Contest is for students up to age 8 at St. Mary, St. John, and Chester Grade Schools
