Wetzel, Hornbostel debut victorious in cage

Over the weekend, Chester residents Jordan Wetzel and Nathan Hornbostel both left 618 MMA's Midwest Pride V held in Du Quoin victorious. It was both fighter's first time in the cage.
Wetzel, 17, a junior at Chester High School, says his win wouldn't have been possible without his coaches and team behind him.
"My fight was a back and forth war," Wetzel said. "The training from my coaches is what allowed me to end the fight."
Wetzel weighed in at 155 lbs. and won the bout by a full mount TKO due to strikes. While Hornbostel weighed in at 145 and also won by a full mount TKO due to strikes.
Both fighters train with JoJax Fighting Arts out of Chester. Team instructors are Joseph Durham and Alex Jones.
"We are excited about their win," said Jones. "They showed alot of heart, and percervivered to the wins. They trained very hard for this fight [and it] all paid off in the end."
The team is currently training out of Vasquez's Fitness Center.
Jones said JoJax is happy to be a part of 618 MMA productions. The next 618 MMA promotion is scheduled to for May 28 at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.
