Gayle began taking reservations and receiving guests the first full week in March, 2011. She replaces Mary Kay Keim, who filled the position for ten years, before moving north with her husband, Steve.

The Hospitality House has four bedrooms available for families and friends for overnight stays when they visit residents at Menard Correctional Center and Chester Mental Health. The Hospitality House opened in July of 1986 and has hosted over 27,800 guests. This year marks the Hospitality House's twenty-fifth anniversary.

Gayle is the Hospitality House's fifteenth director. She loves the friendliness of Southern Illinoisans and enjoys watching the peaceful flow of the river outside her windows.

Gayle is married and has one son who lives in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. Before moving to Illinois, Gayle worked as a legal secretary for twenty years in Washington, D.C. for a Chicago-based law firm.

Additionally, she's worked over the past seven years for prison reform in both Virginia and Illinois. She finds the opportunity to expand that work with the mission of the Hospitality House (hospitalityhouse.yolasite.com) a perfect fit for her personal goals and objectives. She is the creator and moderator of The Beautiful Struggle (thebeautifulstruggle@yahoogroups.com), an Internet-based prison support group, which provides support, information, advice and opportunities for involvement to families and friends of incarcerated individuals.
