Rain forced the cancellation of PCHS's game with Pleasant Plains on Friday afternoon, as storms hammered the area after the Lady Panthers had a 1-0 lead after two innings of play.
With a run in the sixth, Pinckneyville had Shelbyville on the ropes in their first contest Saturday, but the visitors picked up three in the top of the seventh for the 3-1 victory.
Taylor Kuhnert (2-2) and Melia Bathon (2-3) had multi-hit games for the Lady Panthers. Emily Chapman (6-2) took the hard luck loss, going all seven innings.
Later Saturday evening, Williamsville got two in the first and one in the second off of Sara Malanowski (9-2), then held PCHS to just three hits in a 3-0 shutout.
Malanowski (1-2), Taylor Cheek (1-3) and Maddy Keith (1-3) accounted for the three Pinckneyville hits.
The Lady Panthers (15-4) will look to rebound on Monday at Nashville (4:30 p.m.). The two teams currently share first place in the Southern Illinois River to River Conference's Mississippi Division along with Carterville. All three teams have lost one conference matchup.
PCHS hosts Du Quoin on Tuesday in another SIRR meeting before hitting the road on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
