BASEBALL: Du Quoin takes care of Z-R-C 14-6

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The DuQuoin High School Baseball Team defeated Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher on the road Wednesday. The final score was 14-6.

DuQuoin had a good day at the plate, scoring in every inning of the game. DuQuoin scored one run in the first inning, three in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth inning, one in the fifth, one in the sixth, and three in the seventh. Z-R-C scored a run in the first and two runs in the sixth.

Connor Wheeler was the starting pitcher for DuQuoin. Wheeler pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing six runs (4 earned), had 3 walks and 9 strikeouts. Wheeler was relieved by Sam Kuhnert, who pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing one hit, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout. Wheeler&#39;s record is 1-1. DuQuoin&#39;s record is 3-8 and 0-2 in the conference.

DuQuoin tallied 12 hits in the game. J.C. Davis was 1-3 with a Home Run and an RBI. Kegan Robbins was 3-3 including a double with 2 RBI. Brandon George was 1-5, a double with an RBI. Jake Stanhouse was 3-4. Drew Bennett was 1-4. Connor Wheeler was 1-2 with a Home Run and 3 RBI. Jon Boss was 1-5 with an RBI. Dylan Pyron was 1-4 with 2 RBI.

In the fourth inning, J.C. Davis started the inning with a solo home run. Later in the inning Connor Wheeler hit a home run with two on to score a total of four runs in the fourth inning.

Coach Tim Craft thought "Connor Wheeler did a good job today. He left a couple of pitches up, and walked a few batters, but he gave us a good game on the mound. We started out slow, but as the game went on we gained some confidence. We hit the ball very well today."

DuQuoin plays at home on Friday against Sparta (4:30). This is a conference game.
