After spotting the Lady Pioneers a 3-0 start, PCHS fought back to tie the game at 10-10 after seven innings before manufacturing a run in the eight for an 11-10 victory, their seventh in a row to begin the season.
Taylor Cheek was the star for the Lady Panthers, going 4-for-5 at the plate and driving in a pair of runs, including the game winner for Pinckneyville.
After Sara Malanowski bunted Emily Chapman to third, Cheek singled to right-center field to break the tie and end the game.
Malanowski (4-0) was the winning pitcher, but struggled in the circle with 10 earned runs on 14 hits, one walk and one hit batter.
Maddy Keith (2-4, 2B, R, 2 RBI) and Shersty Stanton (2-4, 2 2B, 2 R) also collected multiple hits for the Lady Panthers. Mo Ramsey (1-3, 3B, R, RBI), Chapman (1-4, 3B, 3 R, 2 RBI), Malanowski (1-4, RBI), and Taylor Kuhnert (1-4, RBI) had the other PCHS hits.

Other teams competing in this year's tournament are Vienna (PCHS's first round opponent on Friday at 4:30 p.m.), Johnston City, Lebanon, Columbia, Cobden, Carterville, West Frankfort, Altamont and Fairfield.
