SOFTBALL: Indians remain unbeaten, top Frankfort

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[DuQuoin&#39;s latest win comes at the misfortune of West Frankfort softball. DuQuoin defeated Frankfort 13-9 in regulation to get their sixth victory of the season while playing in West Frankfort. DuQuoin racked up 19 hits as opposed to Frankfort&#39;s 13 hits. Each team committed four errors.

The winning pitcher for DuQuoin was Emily Asbury. Her record is 3-0. In seven innings she allowed 13 hits on nine runs. Five runs were earned. She allowed no walks and had 1 strikeout. Coach Jason James commented, "I am very proud of Asbury, and how she stepped up for us today and gave us good innings."

Kelsey Toler was 2-4 with 2 RBI. Jessica Hirsch was 3-5 with 2 triples and 2 RBI. Kelsey Robinson was

5-5 including a double and a home run with 3 RBI. Hadley Marek was 3-5 with an RBI and a walk. Cassidy Rice (DP) also had a walk. Magen Edwards was 2-5. Ashley Ward was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. Curry Emling had an RBI. Jessy Wallace was 3-4 with 3 RBI.

Coach James said "we again hit the ball all over the place. Robinson hit her fourth home run of the season, and several others came up with big hits. We jumped out to a 6 to 0 lead, and they came back to tie the score. We kept focused and put up another 5 spot and pretty much put the game away. On a personal note this was my 100th coaching victory of my career, and I am very proud of all my ladies that have gone through this program. Thank you all!"

DuQuoin, now 6-0, travels to Marion on Saturday for a tournament.

<u>DUQUOIN JR. VARSITY SOFTBALL WINS FIRST GAME</u>

The DuQuoin High School Jr. Varsity played its first full game of the season against West Frankfort on Wednesday coming away with a nine inning victory. DuQuoin was able to score in the top of the ninth to defeat West Frankfort by a score of 12-11. DuQuoin scored one run in the first, two in the fourth, four in the fifth,1 in the sixth, 3 in the eighth, and 1 in the ninth inning. West Frankfort scored 2 in the first, three in the sixth, three in the seventh, three in the eighth, and none in the ninth. DuQuoin closed out the ninth with a double play. A line drive was hit to Kate Toler who doubled up a runner on first to close out the game.

Cassidy Hill got the victory for the Indians, pitching all nine innings and allowing 11 hits in the contest. Coach Jacob Emling "was very proud of Hill pitching all nine innings. The team played very hard, and I was very proud of all of them" commented Emling.

Aubrey Davis was 3-6 including a double and an RBI. Amanda Williams was 3-5 with 2 RBI. Abby Myers was 2-5 with a double, a triple and an RBI. Kate Toler was 1-5 with a double and 2 RBI. Cassidy Hill was 1-5 with a double. Della Lee was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Bri Green was 1-5. Bailey Caldwell was 1-2. Haley Stewart and Chelsea Huff also had playing time for the Indians.

Their record is now 1-0. Chelsea Cassity assists with the Jr. Varsity. The Jr. Varsity play their next full game on March 28 with Benton.
