CHS basketball coach arrested
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[On Jan. 30, 2011 the Randolph Co. Sheriff's Office investigated a motor vehicle accident on Oakdale Road. The owner and passenger left the scene and reported the accident to an off duty Randolph Co. Deputy.
During the investigation Mendy L. Yankey 40, of Ellis Grove, IL. advised that she was the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. Yankey advised that she had one passenger Robert K. Bell 32, of Herrin, Il.
It was then learned that a Chester High School senior had left school to seek medical treatment for injuries that had occurred in a traffic crash.
During further investigation it was learned that there were two passengers in the Yankey vehicle at the time of the crash. It was also learned that Bell was the driver at the time of the crash.
On Tuesday March 15, 2011 Robert Bell was arrested outside Chester High School by Randolph Co. Deputies. Bell was arrested on a Randolph Co. Warrant charging Leaving the Scene of an Accident With Vehicle Damage and Failure to Report an Accident.
Bell was transported to Randolph Co. Jail and released after posting $100.00 cash bond.
Mendy Yankey was arrested on a Randolph Co. Warrant charging Obstructing Justice. Yankey was transported to Randolph Co. Jail and released after posting $500.00 cash bond.
