SOFTBALL: PCHS holds off Wesclin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville Community High School&#39;s senior-laden softball club improved to 5-0 on the season with a 7-3 defeat of Wesclin on Monday afternoon, cranking out three home runs and getting hits from eight different batters.

The Lady Panthers jumped ahead 1-0 in the first, then piled on five runs in the second before tacking on another in the fifth to move ahead 7-0 before Wesclin scrapped out three runs in the seventh.

Sara Malanowski (3-0) won for the third consecutive start, going the distance. Malanowski allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4.

Mo Ramsey (1-3, R, RBI), Emily Chapman (1-3, R, RBI) and Taylor Kuhnert (1-3, R, 3 RBI) each homored in the game for Pinckneyville, giving the Lady Panthers six bombs in their first five games. Ramsey and Malanowski share the team lead with two apiece.

Dani Jenkel (1-4, 2B, RBI), Taylor Cheek (1-2, 2B, R), Shersty Stanton (1-3, 2B, R) and Dani Schoenbacher (1-2, R, RBI) also reached base for PCHS against Wesclin.

Pinckneyville is at home again on Wednesday when they take on Hamilton County at 4:30 p.m.
