Mary Wunderlich joins Liefer practice

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Mary Olschner Wunderlich, PA-C has joined the medical/surgical practice of Allan Liefer, M.D., General Surgeon of Chester. Dr. Liefer is a member of the active medical staff at Memorial Hospital in Chester and is the Chief of Staff at Memorial. Dr. Liefer's practice will now also be open for Primary Care and Wunderlich, a Physician's Assistant, will see Primary Care patients at the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She will also assist Dr. Liefer with surgical patients and they will be seen on Mondays and Wednesdays. "On behalf of Memorial Hospital in Chester, we welcome Mary Wunderlich and look forward to having her associated with the hospital," said Steve Hayes, Hospital Administrator.

Wunderlich, a resident of rural Chester, graduated from Webster Groves High School in St. Louis and attended Tulsa University for one year before changing her degree and going to school in North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1982 and worked for several years as a rehabilitation therapist and recreational therapist before attending St. Louis University's Physician Assistant program. She worked as a P.A. in family practice and general surgery at Franklin Rural Health Clinic in Christopher from 1986 until 1990 and then joined the Chester Clinic in 1990, focusing solely on family practice. She left the practice in 2003 to raise and home school her children.

Wunderlich's professional affiliations include membership in the National Commission on Certified Physician Assistants - Primary Care & Surgery; and the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. She is a Fellow Member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chester, where she currently serves as Chairman of the Administrative Council, the United Methodist Women's Organization and the Friendship Class. Wunderlich has served on the Board of the Little Egypt Walk to Emmaus Community and is currently on the Board of the Little Egypt Chrysalis Community. She is married to Roy Wunderlich and they have three children, John Paul, Noah and Hannah.
