Zach Lochhead was the leading scorer for Chester with 19 points, Justin Woodward put in 12, Chris Schwartz had nine, and Matt Chandler and Caleb Arbeiter added two each. Dustin Hicks was the leading scorer for Sesser-Valier with 19 points.
Saturday's home finale was Senior Night, with ceremonies held to recognize the basketball players, cheerleaders, dance team members and band members who are in the class of 2011.
Chester looked very sharp in the varsity contest, disposing of Carterville by a score of 78-65. Chester built a 21 point lead in the first half thanks to great passing and a tenacious defense that held the Lions to only 16 points. Woodward scored 16 points, Chandler had 14, Schwartz scored 11 and Arbeiter and Reed Koeneman added two points apiece.
