St. Clement Community Foundation Scholarships now available

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[St. Clement Community Foundation is now accepting applications for two scholarships for students in health-related educational programs. Two categories of scholarships will be available for residents in the area. One will be awarded to a student at large in the Red Bud Regional Hospital service area, while the other will be awarded to an employee or to the spouse or dependent of an employee of Red Bud Regional Hospital or Red Bud Nursing Home.

The Foundation scholarship program supports traditional age and non-traditional adult students. In the last eight years the Foundation has awarded scholarships to 30 students. Their hometowns represent: Sparta, Evansville, Red Bud, Prairie du Rocher, Waterloo, Ruma, Baldwin, and Chester. Their programs of study have included Licensed Practical Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Doctorate of Pharmacy, Pre-Med and Radiology.

The scholarship recipients have attended a variety of schools including Beck Career Center, Southwestern Illinois College, Jewish College of Nursing, McKendree College, Deaconess College of Nursing, Southwest Missouri State University, Southern Illinois University, Maryville University, Rockhurst University, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, and Purdue University.

The scholarship amount is for $1,000, renewable for a second year based on the degree requirements and the student earning a satisfactory grade point average. The Foundation sponsors these scholarships as a means to encourage local students and to support our local healthcare providers.

The scholarship application deadline is March 25, 2011. Scholarship applications may be obtained by contacting Dian Albert at (618) 473-2222, ext. 100.

The St. Clement Community Foundation was founded to support health care and health care education. There are four goals in the Foundation&#39;s mission:

1. Support the health care needs in our service area.

2. Provide scholarships for those entering or continuing their education in the health care field.

3. Distribute funds to ensure the availability and enhancement of health care services for future generations.

4. Implement new health and wellness programs.
