Du Quoin Hires Engineer for Industrial Park

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Du Quoin Mayor John Rednour and his city council recently approved an appropriation of more than $31,000 to retain a Metro-East engineer to design the city's new cutting edge solar energy park in the Du Quoin Industrial Park.

The half million dollar project will be a model for other communities and will be an incentive to attract new industry to the site immediately north of Du Quoin.

The council recently approved the agreement between the City of Du Quoin and Mid America Advanced Power Solutions LLC for the design of the grant-funded solar field whose capacity is enough to equal the electricity used by a super Wal-Mart store for one year. It will be built on a 1.6 acre tract at the site immediately south of the cookie factory.
