JAYCEES TAKE OFFICE

The new 2011 Steeleville Jaycee officers officially started their year in office at the January meeting on January 18. The officers for 2011 are as follows: President Shane Hill, Treasurer Megan Hill, Secretary Melissa Murphy, Chairman of the Board Dr. Renee Rheinecker, VP of Individual Development Stephanie Fryer, VP of Membership Jonathan Barbour, VP of Management Tim Eichenseer, and VP of Community Development Jennifer Wilson, Mascot Mason Hill, Directors Dusty Kaesburg and Jodi Hornberger. There were many items on the new business agenda! First on the agenda was the upcoming Illinois Jaycees General Assembly in Decatur, IL on Jan. 28-30. Members Jennifer Wilson, Shane Hill, Megan Hill, Stephanie Fryer, and Dr. Renee Rheinecker will attend the conference in hopes of bringing home awards for activities done during 2010. Next on the agenda, was the Bunny Hop which was a new activity in 2010. This year the event will be held on April 23 at the Steeleville Eagles and benefits will go to help Jason Mines and his family with mounting medical bills. The event will feature live music, raffles, silent auction, adult Easter egg hunt and much more. The Jaycees are also looking into holding another consignment formal dress sale sometime in late February or early March. Last year's event had over 350 dresses for sale. The date for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be Sat., April 16 at 10 a.m. in the city park with a rain date of April 23. Also on the agenda were plans for the annual Road Rally which will be run by co-chairmen Shane and Megan Hill. They reported that a theme is in the works and still trying to verify a date.

The Steeleville Jaycees are always accepting new members between the ages 18-40 and anyone is welcome to attend monthly meetings. The Jaycees meet the third Tues. of the month in the back room of the Steeleville Eagles at 7 p.m.
