She talked about a new program at the Chester Grade School called "Kids First". The program is designed to assist needy children with items such as clothing, shoes, hygiene products, Christmas gifts, and any other items that a child may need throughout the school year. Amy talked about the difference between the "Toys for Tots" project coordinated by Coach Lee and the high school football team and the "Kids First" Program. Both depend solely on community donations. This past Christmas, 189 children received either toys and/or clothing at Christmas. The "Kids First" program helped approximately 80 of the children who were in need of underwear, socks, shoes, shirts, etc. The two programs are working together to ensure that children who need assistance do not go without whether it is clothing, school supplies or toys at Christmas! Amy also worked with the Alpha Upsillon Master Sorority who recently donated 34 new coats to children in need.

Anyone interested in making donations to "Kids First" may contact the Chester Grade School Principal, Tim Lochhead at 826.2354, ext. 256, or Amy Eggemeyer at 826.2354, ext. 231. You may also send a check to Chester Grade School made out to "Kids First", attention Amy Eggemeyer.
