BASKETBALL: Elverado drops BDC contest to Chester

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Chester got 29 points from Zach Lochhead and cruised to a 75-49 victory over Elverado on Tuesday night, pulling away after an explosive offensive first half.

Daltun Hasty buried a three-pointer for Elverado in the early going and Josh Sarenson added a putback with 5:07 to go in the opening quarter but the Falcons still trailed 7-5.

Hasty drove for a layup later in the quarter and Sarensen had another stick-back, but back-to-back three-pointers from Chester&#39;s Matt Chandler put the Yellow Jackets up 20-9 with 1:38 to go in the first before pulling away 48-22 by the half.

Sean Harrison led Elverado with 13 points, Hasty added 12, Sarensen 6, Kyle Whittington 5, Ben Kempfer 4, Casey Hicks 3, and Wade Bowlin, Kody Ellet and Brian McClanahan each finished with 2.

Chandler (16 points) and Justin Woodward (13 points) joined Lochhead in double figures for the Yellow Jackets (7-6, 2-2).

The Falcons (1-7, 1-4) return to action on Friday when they host Sesser-Valier (9-2, 3-0) with the junior varsity tipoff set for 6:15 p.m. at Elverado High School in Elkville, then they travel to Cobden (5-7) on Saturday to meet up with the Appleknockers.
