Two for Mayor, Five For Council in Du Quoin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[As the first official day of filing ended for seats on the Du Quoin city council there are two candidates for mayor and five candidates for four commissioner seats.

Du Quoin's general election is in April 2011.

Incumbent Mayor John Rednour and onetime finance commissioner Guy Alongi both filed their petitions in the race for mayor.

Incumbent commissioners Kathy West, Rex Duncan and Linda Fronek filed petitions in an attempt to keep their seats. Finance commissioner Cha Hill has indicated he will not seek re-election.

Two other candidates not currently on the council have filed. They include Du Quoin Community Unit District employee Josh Downs and attorney Yvonne Spencer.

Filing continues until 5 p.m. next Monday.
