BASKETBALL: DMS girls can't stop Christopher

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[It was a rough night for the DuQuoin Middle School Girls Basketball team on Monday evening. The Warriors were defeated twice by the Christopher Bearcats. Both the seventh and eighth grade teams lost. The eighth grade lost by a score of 30-21.

The eighth grade record is 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Amanda Atteberry scored 8 points, followed by Jacqueline Harsy with 7, Marisa Ferguson 4, and Jessica Harsy 2. Carissa Graham and Shelby Simmons also saw action for the Warriors.

Coach Debbie Ritter commented, "Overall we seemed to play as if we were tired out after the Thanksgiving break. Amanda Atteberry had some nice shots. Christopher was a very quick team. Probably the quickest team we have played this season."

The seventh grade team, coached by Chuck Montgomery, got off to a slow start. The score at the end of the first quarter was 6-0 in Christopher&#39;s favor. At the half-way point, it was 13-2. The final score ended up with Christopher winning 30-13.

Scoring for DuQuoin were Alaina Caldwell 6, Brittany Clark 2, Timbra Mansfield 1, Andrea Morgan 2, and Emily Born 2. Sydney Lewis, Kate Smith, and Jordan Heatherly also action during the game.

DMS takes the court again on Wednesday, December 1, at home against Elverado.
