BASKETBALL: Junior High Round-up (11-26)

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Du Quoin Middle School boys basketball team (eighth grade) traveled to Trico Tuesday evening and came home a winner. DuQuoin beat Trico 49-30.

Scoring for DMS was Jacob Wright 12, Jacob Valier 9, Tucker Kuhnert 8, A.J. Smith 6, Jacob Hunziker 4, Nolan Showalter 6, and Hunter Behm 4. A.J. Smith led in assists with 4; he also led in rebounding with 6.

Coach Ryan Heape thought his "team played better and we executed our sets and plays a little better. We used our size advantage early, which opened up the 3 point line for us. We were 7 of 13 in three pointers. Wright had four of them." DMS is 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

The seventh grade lost their game against Trico 37-27. Scoring for DuQuoin had Tucker Kuhnert with 8, Cole Hopkins 5, Hunter Behm 2, Ryne O&#39;Rourke 4, Chad Heatherly 2, Caleb Vogel 2, and Braden Heape 1.

The next game for DMS is at home with Pinckneyville Junior High School (District #50) on Tuesday.

<u>TSB boys&#39; defense stifles Elverado</u>

Tamaroa-St. Bruno&#39;s defense shut out the Elverado offense for the entire first quarter and went on to win 62-32 in Elkville last night.

Jordan Grissom and Cole Bigham led the Falcons with 17 points a piece, Tyler Iubelt was also in double figures with a dozen.

Nolan Luke pitched in 6 points, as did Adam Banach, Brock Bullar and Robbie Borchelt each finished with two.

The Indians are now 3-1 in conference play and 7-5 overall, and will play at Creal Springs on Thursday, December 2 (6:00 p.m. - JV) in their next game.

<u>TSB girls stop skid, slip past Elverado</u>

Kaylee Rulevish scored 14 poitns and Tamaroa-St. Bruno snuck past Elverado 27-26 on Tuesday night, improving to 6-11 (1-2) on the year.

"We are playing better," said head coach Jimmy Harris. "Hopefully we will be completely healed after Thanksgiviing and can continue to grow as a team."

Dalis Hubler and Chelsey Moss each added 4 points, Cassie Andrade and Becca Gauch both had 2, and Tamara Williams finished with 1.

Rulevish also led the way in rebounding with 10, Williams and Andrade each added 8.

The TSB girls return to action on Monday at Desoto (6:00 p.m. - JV).

<u>Junior Panthers top Murphysboro</u>

Behind 31 points from Austin Ferguson, Pinckneyville Junior High School (District #50) outpaced Murphysboro 61-53 on Tuesday night.

The Junior Panthers also got 16 points from Trent Hicks, 4 points each from Jacob Downard, Zach Hagene and Stephano Euells, and 2 from Dalton Gant.

PJHS led by only three heading into the final period, but outscored Murphy 22-17 in the period to move to 4-5 on the season, 2-1 in conference play.

PJHS hits the road Monday as they travel to Du Quoin (6:00 - JV).

<u>Stein&#39;s free throws propel Junior Lady Panthers</u>

Keelyn Stein scored 15 points and hit a pair of free throws with 13 seconds remaining in the game to give Pinckneyville Junior High School (District #50) a 33-32 win over Murphysboro in girls action Tuesday night, moving to 7-5 overall.

Kaitlyn Goldman chipped in with 6 points, Maddie Jones finished with 4, Morgan Gleason and Raygan Yates 3 apiece, and Jessica Presutti 2.

The Junior Lady Panthers take on undefeated Pinckneyville District #204 in a road contest on Monday (6:00 p.m. - JV).
