Nashville out played and out scored DMS winning by 35-9. At the end of the first quarter the score was 8-4 Nashville, and they continued to add to the score in the next three quarters. DMS was never any closer than the four points in the first quarter, and only managed to score 5 more points in the game.
The starting line up of Jacqueline Harsy, Jessica Harsy, Carissa Graham, Marisa Ferguson, and Amanda Atteberry played hard, but just could not match up with Nashville's size and quickness. Jacqueline Harsy scored 2, Jessica Harsy 2, and Amanda Atteberry 5. Also seeing action during the game were Tiamera Hamilton, Shelby Simmons, Andrea Morgan, Amber Williams, Alaina Caldwell, and Sydney Lewis.
Coach Debbie Ritter was disappointed, but thought her team "rebounded better tonight, and our defense was good in the first quarter. We just got worn down by Nashville. We got beat tonight by a better team."
DuQuoin's record overall is 5-5 and 1-2 in the conference.
The seventh grade team also lost. The score was 18-11. Alaina Caldwell scored 1, Andrea Morgan had 6, Sydney Lewis scored 2, and Emily Born had 2 points. Other players seeing action were Kat Robison, Brittany Clark, and Timbra Mansfield. The seventh graders are 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
Seventh grade Coach Chuck Montgomery commented: "Nashville took us out of our game, and did not allow us anything inside. Andrea Morgan took charge of the game for us, and Nashville was was very concerned about her. It was hard to make the adjustments we needed to make."
DMS travels to Murphysboro on Thursday for another conference game.
