BASKETBALL: SLU lets one slip away on opening night
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Tyshwan Edmondson made a pair of free throws with four seconds left to lift Austin Peay to a 64-62 win over Saint Louis on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Edmondson finished with 17 points for the Governors, shooting 6 for 9 from the field, while Josh Terry scored a game-high 18 points on 7 of 9 shooting.
The Billikens were ahead by eight points midway through the second half after a 22-10 run to start the period. But the Governors battled back and it was tied 62-62 with less than a minute to go.
The teams exchanged turnovers in the final minute before the Billikens' Christian Salecich sent Edmondson to the line with four seconds to go.
Kyle Cassity (Tamaroa, IL/PCHS) led Saint Louis with 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting, and also led the team in assists with 5 and minutes played with 34.
Saint Louis was a dismal 4-for-18 from behind the three-point line as a team.
7,511 saw the home opener as the Billikens (0-1) started Cassity, Brian Conklin, Cody Ellis, and freshmen Rob Loe and Mike McCall. SLU returns to action Monday night hosting Rockhurst at 7:00 p.m..
