What was the Boom?

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Du Quoin Police Department, the Du Quoin Fire Department, Illinois State Police and the Perry County Sheriff's Department all say they have never been able to find the source of a loud explosion or "boom" on Du Quoin's north end at 8:30 p.m. Friday that could be heard for nearly two miles.

The explosion shook windows in Du Quoin and resulted in several calls to local law enforcement agencies.

It sounded like an electrical transformer explosion, but Du Quoin police patrolled all of the power lines on the north side and found no evidence of damage.
