Yellow Jackets defeated by Warriors in first round of playoffs

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Many local football fans were looking forward to a long playoff run by the Chester Yellow Jackets, but those hopes came to a quick end on Saturday afternoon. Despite only having a 6-3 record and a number 13 seed, the Hardin-Calhoun Warriors proved to be a tough opponent as they defeated Chester 34-6.

Hardin-Calhoun's offense did not necessarily come up with a large number of huge plays, but they seemed to be able to get several yards at a time whenever they needed to. Their defense held Chester's running attack to numbers well below their average. Chester was forced to pass a little more than they usually do, which resulted in three interceptions.

The Warriors got on the board first with a long opening drive that resulted in a touchdown at the 5:14 mark. Chester answered with an 82-yard pass play from Zach Lochhead to John Baughman just seconds into the second quarter. The two-point conversion failed, leaving Chester down 7-6.

From that point on, it was all Hardin-Calhoun. They came back with six points in their next possession, then put the game away with two scoring drives in the third quarter. One more touchdown on a 76 yard run in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Warriors.

Baughman was the leading rusher for Chester with 45 yards, Joel Clendenin had 38 and Stephen Roth added 16. Lochhead completed seven passes in 13 attempts for 135 yards. Baughman was the leading receiver with 96 yards and Justin Woodward had 36.

Chester finishes the year with an overall record of 8 wins and only 2 losses.
