VOLLEYBALL: Du Quoin takes care of Trico on "Pink-Out" night

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The DuQuoin Indians Volleyball team were victorious yet again as they defeated the Trico Pioneers in two games. The game scores were 25-12 and 25-17. DuQuoin definitely took care of business in this match using their quick sets and spiking to the dismay of Trico.

DuQuoin&#39;s starting lineup of Rebekah Maddox, Jessica Hirsch, Kelsey Toler, Cassidy Rice (Libero), Megi Jones, Ashley Ward, and Keawna Anders came out smoking in the first game of the match. Immediately, Anders put two spikes down that put DuQuoin up 2-0. A few plays later, Toler served a bullet that Trico hit out to go up 5-1. Maddox put down a beauty of a spike to go 6-1. Trico was in the net at 8-1. Toler got hot later in the game to put down several spikes. A quick set by Jones and a massive spike by Toler made it 19-7. Curry Emling had a good block in the rally. Hirsch&#39;s serve could not be returned by Trico and Toler scored a kill on another quick set by Jones. DuQuoin was called for a center line violation at 22-6. In the final play of the game, a Ward tip could not be returned by Trico and DuQuoin won the game 25-12.

Game two went very much like the first game with DuQuoin quickly building up a lead and holding on. The final score of this one was 25-17. This match brings DuQuoin&#39;s record to 23-8. Coach Isaac Miller thought his team "came out focused. I thought we played a good match. We really didn&#39;t have any let downs. From start to finish, we controlled the game well."

Toler led in kills with 8, Jones led in assists with 10 followed by Jessica Martin with 4. Maddox had two blocks with Toler, Hirsch, and Emling with one apiece. Jones had 7 digs, Anders 6.

The Junior Varsity handily won their match 25-12 and 25-7. The JV are now at a 6-7 record. Chandra Gilliam led in digs with 3, Kate Toler led in kills with 5. Hailey Stewart led in assists with 9.

The Freshmen Team continued their winning ways moving their record to 17-2. They beat Trico 21-14 and 21-5.

Ka. Toler led in service points with 13 (2 aces), Chandra Gilliam had 7 assists, Lela Copeland led in kills with 5.

DuQuoin will play Herrin on Wednesday at home. There was an error on the schedule that put the game at Herrin. DuQuoin did not realize the error until Monday, and Senior night was rescheduled for Wednesday evening after discovering the error. Seniors Ke. Toler, Ward, Emling, and their parents will be honored prior to the Varsity game. DuQuoin will travel to Steeleville on Thursday for the final regular season game. The Regional starts next week at Carterville. With a 23-8 record, DuQuoin is seeded Number One in that regional.
