Tamaroa Water Project Now 65% Complete
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Kendall Odum of Southern Engineering reported that 95 percent of the water line for the expansion project is in the ground and 65 percent of the total project has been completed. The bulk of the remaining work revolves around completing the pump house and necessary connections.
Odum submitted a $29,321 bill from the contractor and a $16,287 bill for inspection work. The board approved payment.
The board also approved three additions to the water project which have been discussed at previous meetings. The additions will include property owned by the Kuberskis, Whittingtons and a subdivision between Tamaroa and Pinckneyville.
At the September meeting, Odum estimated the total cost of the additions at $7,000.
In other business, the board:
approved a mobile home permit for Mark Valentine to place a home on his property on East First North Street.
noted that tables for the Oct. 9 fund-raiser had to be borrowed from Posen. The tables from the Community Center have been broken, but not replaced. Those who rent the Community Center pay a damage deposit along with the rental fee. In the cases where tables were broken, the damage deposit was not refunded. The Village has the funds to purchase new tables, but had not done so.
directed employee Joe Burgess to call a plumber to fix the drain in the kitchen at the Community Center.
welcomed SIU photography student Samuel J. Copeland. He has been taking pictures of Tamaroa as part of a small town documentary project. There will be a showing of the students' work at SIU. Copeland passed around some of the black and white photos he has taken.
