The Friendly Little City received word in September that they had won in the Historic Preservation category.
The city had to enter a specific event in the contest. They chose the 50th Anniversary of the American Thresherman Association summer show in August 2009.
Working closely with the ATA, Pinckneyville put together a written application and a live presentation.
Pinckneyville was one of 26 project winners.
"It is with great pleasure that I offer my congratulations to the American Thresherman Association 50th Anniversary for being one of the winners of the Governor's Hometown Award this year." Governor Pat Quinn said in a written statement. "The yearly celebration of early farming techniques will help educate many generations to come of our rich agricultural heritage."
