If so, don't miss your opportunity to see Dan Keding at the Chester Public Library. Keding, storyteller and musician of international acclaim, has entertained adults and children for years at festivals across America and in Europe. He will present two spine tingling shows this month at the Chester Public Library.

On Friday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m., Keding will present "Scary Stories" for the entire family. The first presentation of eerie tales will last 45 - 60 minutes and will be followed by refreshments provided by the Friends of the Chester Public Library. All ages are welcome to attend the 6:00 p.m. presentation. However, the scary stories may not be appropriate for young children. Parents are encouraged to attend with children under ten years old.

At 8:00 p.m. on the same evening, Friday, October 22, teenagers and adults are invited to the Chester Public Library for the second show - "Ghost Stories". This one-hour presentation will be filled with frightening tales of the unknown.

Both shows are free and open to the public, but there is limited seating available. For more information or to reserve a seat for the event, call 826-3711 or e-mail chesterlibrary@shawls.lib.il.us.

This Mayors' Challenge for the Arts event is funded in part by a grant from Carbondale Community Arts and by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

"Dan Keding is well known for his telling of traditional world folktales, personal narratives of his boyhood in Chicago, ghost stories and dark tales, and superbly crafted original pieces. As a child he learned the traditional stories that his grandmother brought to this country from Croatia. A well-respected ballad singer, he accompanies himself on guitar, banjo and spoons. This combination of dynamic storytelling and powerful ballad singing has made him a festival and concert favorite throughout the US, Great Britain and Ireland, endearing him to audiences of all ages."
