Chester downs Steeleville

In high school volleyball action last week Chester defeated Steeleville by scores of 25-13 and 25-19. Steeleville got off to a quick start and held an early 8-1 lead before the Lady Jackets took control of the contest. The teams traded points for much of game two until Chester went on a 5-0 run to take a commanding 18-10 lead.
Chester's head coach Karen Bert was happy with her team's performance.
"We started off a little slow in the first game, but the girls looked really sharp and are getting their serves over, moving to the ball and talking more" said Bert.
Leading spikers for Chester were Tiffani Marshall with nine kills and Jordan Clendenin with four kills. Taylor Crum led in assists with nine. Sydney Haberberger served for 10 points, Crum had nine and Taylor Marks added five.
Steeleville's top hitters were Alex Gale and Brooke Rees with four kills apiece. Ruebke had eight digs while Rees and Gale had six each. Woods had five assists. Gale was the leading server with seven points.
The junior varsity match went to Steeleville by scores of 25-16, 25-22.
Steeleville was led in digs by Tiffany Cathcart and Taylor Grafton with seven each. Woods was tops in assists with seven and Grafton, Sara Potter and Mackenzie Doeding each had three kills. Doeding was also the leading server with eight points and Grafton and Potter added five apiece.
Chester was led by Marah Laramore in kills with nine, Taylor Gross had eight digs, Allie Schmerbauch had six assists and Jena Tressler served for seven points.
