Chester splits matches

Chester&#39;s volleyball squad picked up a big Black Diamond Conference win last week when they topped Sesser-Valier by scores of 25-12, 25-11. Tiffani Marshall led in kills with eight an Britney Schroeder had five. Taylor Crum was the assists leader with 11 and Shelby Long led in digs with seven. Crum served for nine points, Megan Marcinkowska added eight and Jordan Clendenin added five.

Chester dropped Thursday night&#39;s match to Trico in three games. Chester lost the first game 25-19, won the second game 25-22 and lost the deciding game 25-14. Marshall again led in kills with seven, Crum had 12 assists and Shelly Lyons had six digs. Clendenin was the leading server with eight points and Crum served for five.

The junior varsity team lost to Sesser-Valier and Trico last week. Against Sesser-Valier they lost the first game 29-27, won the second game 25-14 and lost the deciding game 15-9. Jena Tressler led in kills with four. Dani Homan had 10 digs, Taylor Gross had six and Allie Schmerbauch and Tressler had five each. Dani Homan was the leader in assists with seven and the top servers were Gross with 13 points and Tressler and Danni Hormann with seven points apiece

The Trico match also went three games. Chester took game one 25-14 but lost the next two 25-17, 15-11. Michaelyn Modglin was the leading hitter with five kills and also had five blocks. Schmerbauch had four digs. Schmerbauch, Tawnee Keel and Gross each served for six points and Homan added five.
