</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[If you ever wanted to be part of a music video, that could happen when the music group Head East performs in concert during Mardi Gras weekend in Pinckneyville Thursday, October 28.
Head East spokesman Ron Lemen told the Du Quoin Evening Call Wednesday the decision has been made to digitally video tape scenes from that concert for Head East's new music video to be released alongside its upcoming new CD "One Night."
It will be Head East's 11th albums and first music video, according to Lemen, who has managed the group for the last 25 years.
The group has been in existence for almost 40 years, but now has a large following because of the resurgence of classic rock.
Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce President Larry West told the newspaper he is thrilled by the development.
He said he is working with Sound Core of Carbondale to enhance staging for the group's appearance as part of Mardi Gras 2010.
"We will be filming the concept portion of the video in New Orleans. We are working with the production people now," said Remen. "We will release the CD and the video together," he said.
"We think between the staging and the track seating and the open background it should work well," said Remen.
"This part of the video will show the band performing live," he said.
"The Chamber of Commerce wanted to bring in a great band to expand upon Pinckneyville's Mardi Gras festivities. Head East fits the bill and we think the concert, in conjunction with Battle of the Bands, will be a great addition to the town-wide celebration" says Chamber President Larry West.
Tickets for the Head East concert are just $10 and will be available through the Chamber of Commerce as well as other local distributors (locations to be announced).
Call the Chamber of Commerce at 618-357-3243 for more information.
The Pinckneyville Chamber will also host a "Battle of the Bands" competition October 23, 2010. The competition is open to bands of any genre.
A $40 entry fee covers a one song performance, original or cover, and the winner will open for Head East on October 28.
In addition, the winning band will have their entire set recorded on Oct. 28 courtesy of J.Jam Productions. For more information call or text Josh at 618-318-0730.
Although St. Louis is often mentioned as Head East's home the original members actually grew up in south central Illinois. The band was Originally known as the TimeAtions.
Head East is currently a five piece band consisting of Roger Boyd, Greg Manahan, Glen Bridges, Eddy Jones and Darren Walker.
Some of the new CD is from the band's live tour in 2009.
The band currently performs about 30 to 40 shows each year, most of them in the Midwest.
