SOFTBALL: SB-T upsets top seed in Regional
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The St. Bruno-Tamaroa girl's softball team advanced to the Regional finals with a stellar performance Thursday afternoon in Chester. Jordyn Bullar allowed only two hits, struck out eight & walked four in an old-fashioned pitcher's duel, won by the Lady Falcons 4-2 over St. Johns.
SB-T was down 2-1 going into the bottom of the 5th inning when Chelsey Moss finally drew a walk after battling through 11 pitches. Moss advanced to second on a wild pitch, then Kaylee Rulevish blasted a triple to right-center that tied the game 2-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, Taylor Geary drew a walk & advanced to second on a passed ball, then Afton Robinson blasted a line drive to left field for a single and stole second base.
Macyi Doerflein hit a ground ball to the shortstop but the throw home was too late scoring Moss. Robinson then scored on an overthrow, putting SB-T ahead 4-2 going into the 7th, which proved to be all they needed. The Lady Falcons held off a 7th inning threat by St. Johns for the upset victory over the number one seed.
"It was the best game we played this year" coach Jeff Harris said. "The defensive play from (Delaney) Bandy, (Dalis) Hubbler, (Emma) Banach, Geary, Moss & Robinson was unbelievable throughout the entire game."
Calli Bigham had the other RBI for SB-T.
The Lady Falcons play for the regional championship this Saturday at Pinckneyville #204 school's field agaisnt Elverado at 1:00 p.m.
