H1N1, Regular Flu Vaccine Combined This Year
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Last year's annual flu season the H1N1 and seasonal flus required separate vaccinations. This year, the H1N1 strain, as well as two other flu strains, is included in one vaccine. However, children younger than nine who have not been vaccinated for influenza in the past will need two doses of the flu vaccine, according to the Perry County Health Department.
The department recommends that everyone six months and older receive the vaccine. People at high risk of serious flu complications, including young children, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions and people 65 years and older should make getting vaccinated a priority.
Every flu season is different and adults can become very sick from the flu.
The Perry County Health Department will not be conducting vaccination clinics at the schools this year, so it is important to bring your child to one of the scheduled clinics. More information will be available in the coming days.
