SOFTBALL: PJHS solves Lady Warriors
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Lady Warriors missed out on an opportunity to clinch a tie for the Conference title on Monday, falling victim to a masteful pitching performance from Pinckneyville Junior High School's Brooklyn Morrow.
Morrow allowed only a pair of Du Quoin hits in the contest which was won by her Junior Lady Panthers 4-0 as the Lady Indians commited 7 errors in the field.
"We came out very flat in the first few innings and they took advantage of every mistake we made," said DMS coach Jason James.
"The flat out-played us in every aspect of the game. I have to give them a lot of credit. Morrow pitched a great game and they played solid defense behind her."
Abby Doerr and Hannah Marek had the hits for Du Quoin, Kat Robison and Marissa Ferguson also reach base by working walks.
Ferguson pitched well for DMS going all 7 innings, allowing only 1 earned run while striking out 10 and walking 5.
DMS can still earn a tie in the conference if they beat Nashville this afternoon in Du Quoin (4:00 p.m.).
The Lady Warriors begin Regional tournament action on Wednesday in West Frankfort where they will face Herrin at 4:30 p.m. The winner moves on to Monday's final, also in West Frankfort at 4:30, where they will meet either Johnston City or West Frankfort.
