BASEBALL: DMS wins wild offensive battle
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The baseball game at Nashville on Wednesday afternoon started at four o'clock and came close to being called for darkness. The game lasted until 6:50. DuQuoin came out the victor with a 17-12 win over Nashville. Coach Tim Craft thought "today was a great win for us. We put ourselves in a bad spot losing early in the season to Murphysboro, but we have battled our way back to compete for the conference championship. We did a great job today battling at the plate. Nashville had a pretty good pitcher on the mound, and we were able to fight off a lot of pitches with two strikes and make something happen. We did struggle defensively at times today. Hopefully, that will come around in the next few days so we can be playing our best ball going into the regional. I am really proud of our kids."
Noah Campbell got the win, pitching 4 2/3 innings, allowing 8 runs (6 earned), 7 hits, one walk, and 4 strikeouts. A.J. Smith relieved Campbell going 2 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (all earned), 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
DuQuoin hitters pounded out 20 hits: Nolan Showalter was 2-for-5, RBI; Jacob Valier 3-4, RBI; A.J. Smith 3-5, 3 RBI; Noah Campbell 3-3, 2B, 3 RBI; Lane Valier 1-4, RBI; Tucker Kuhnert 3-4, 2 RBI; Ryne O'Rourke 1-4; Dalton Day 2-4, RBI; Carter Leake 2-4, RBI
