SOFTBALL/BASEBALL: DMS teams beat Trico

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ On Tuesday afternoon, DuQuoin Middle School Warriors defeated Trico 12-3 in seven innings. DuQuoin scored one in the first, three in the third, four in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the seventh for their 12 runs. Trico managed two in the first and one in the fourth inning.

Marisa Ferguson was the winning pitcher going all seven innings. She allowed 3 runs (1 earned), on four hits, 8 strikeouts, and 2 walks. DuQuoin is 12-3 overall and 8-0 in the Conference.

Coach Jason James thought his team played very well. "I really thought we swung the bats extremely well and played very good defense after the first inning. Ferguson again pitched very well. Big game tomorrow night against Nashville at Nashville. Both teams are undefeated in the conference. Should be a very good game."

Du Quoin had 16 hits for the game: Amber Williams 3-4, 2B, RBI; Harley Dearmond 1-1; Amanda Atteberry 2-3, 2 RBI; Marisa Ferguson 3-3; Andrea Morgan 3R; Abby Doerr 2-2, 2B, 3B, 4 RBI; Jacqueline Harsy 2-4, RBI; Carissa Graham 1-3, RBI; Timbra Mansfield and Kat Robinson both scored runs; Sydney Lewis was the flex on defense in right field and Hannah Marek played third base.

DuQuoin Middle School softball travels to Nashville on Wed. for a conference showdown with Nashville. Both are undefeated in the conference at 8-0.

<u>DMS BASEBALL BLANKS TRICO</u>

The DuQuoin Middle School Baseball Team "threw Trico a curve" on Tuesday afternoon beating them 9-0 in seven innings. Jacob Valier was the winning pitcher allowing no runs, two hits, two walks, and striking out 13 batters.

Coach Tim Craft was very happy with his team&#39;s performance. "We did a good job of putting a lot of runs on the board early. Jacob (Valier) then took the ball and ran with it. We played a good all around game today."

DuQuoin pounded out 12 hits: Cole Hopkins 1-2; Jacob Valier 2-5; A.J.Smith 2-4, 2B, RBI; Noah Campbell 2-3, 3B, 2 RBI; Lane Valier 1-4; Tucker Kuhnert 1-3, RBI; Ryne O&#39;Rourke 1-3, RBI; Carter Leake 2-3.

DuQuoin plays at Nashville on Wednesday (4:00).
