VOLLEYBALL: DHS moves to 12-3; PCHS, Elverado lose
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The DHS Volleyball Team handily defeated conference rival Sparta on Tuesday evening at Sparta. The DuQuoin Varsity won two games 25-11 and 25-20 to take the match at 2-0. DuQuoin's record is now 12-3 overall. Kelsey Toler, Rebekah Maddox, and Keawna Anders led the team with 5 kills each. Megi Jones led in assists with 15. Maddox had 2 blocks and Kelsey Toler 1.
The Junior Varsity team lost the match 2-1 moving their record to 0-3. The Freshman team won 21-15 and 21-6 winning the match at 2-0. Their record is 3-0. Abby Myers led the freshmen with 6 kills followed by Bailie Caldwell with 4 kills. Chandra Gilliam led with 6 assists followed by Hailey Stewart with 5.
Coach Isaac Miller was very positive about his team's effort. "It was good to get back on track and regain our confidence after the tough loss to Nashville. We have a big week ahead with Carterville on Thursday and the Massac Tournament on Saturday."
<u>A-J EDGES LADY PANTHERS:</u>
In Pinckneyville, the Anna-Jonesboro Lady Wildcats snuck by the Lady Panthers 25-22, 21-25 and 25-10.
Maddy Keith had 8 kills and 2 blocks for PCHS, Alexis Bigham added 5 digs.
The Lady Panthers take the floor again Thursday when they meet Nashville at Thomas Gymnasium (7:30 p.m.).
<u>LADY FALCONS COME UP EMPTY VS. AGAPE CHRISTIAN:</u>
Elverado girls' volleyball team fell 25-15, 25-21 to Agape Christian on Tuesday night, despite another solid game from Tiffany Yearian, who finished with 7 kills and 2 digs.
Chelsea Cochran was 11-for-11 on serves in the game for Elverado, and also contributed 30 assists.
The Lady Falcons junior-varsity team now stands at 7-3 with a 25-21, 25-19 win before the varsity battle.
