Wife Turns in Soon-to-Be Ex-Husband for Marijuana

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A Du Quoin woman Thursday walked into the Du Quoin Police Department and asked police to send a drug dog to her home on Old Timers Road Old in Towne Estates east of Du Quoin on the suspicion that her soon-to-be ex-husband had a cache of drugs in their home.

The subdivision is outside of Du Quoin's normal jurisdiction, but because Perry County Sheriff's deputies were on a call in Swanwick, local police obliged.

Du Quoin Police Department officers were sent to the residence and the Perry County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit was called out shortly thereafter.

At the residence, several methadone pills were found as well as a large amount of marijuana. A male subject identified as Martin Harmon, age 49, told police the drugs were his.

As officers prepared to arrest Harmon, he took a knife and stabbed himself in the neck.

The suspect seriously injured himself and was taken to Marshall Browning Hospital, then later flown to a St. Louis Hospital.

Harmon's condition is unknown.
