The cleanup will tentatively be held on Saturday, August 21.
The city is recruiting any volunteer group, church group, service group or any individual interested in taking pride in a clean Du Quoin, according to public works director Dale Spencer.
Recently the city in cooperation with Perry Ridge Landfill co-sponsored a very successful clean up effort. Duties related to the cleanup day will differ slightly from the July event.
The strategy for August 21 will be on a smaller scale. Each group will canvas their respective section for street, alley and boulevard trash. Each group will be responsible for the collection ad removal of the trash in their respective section. Efforts will be made to recycle the allowable materials such as paper, cans and plastic. Trash bags and gloves will be provided by the city.
